When I was ready to set up my quilting studio, I was browsing the Internet for ideas on workspace setup and stumbled across the Real Sewing Rooms link below.  I spent some time browsing the links and pictures making note of anything that I thought would be nice to have in my room.  Then I got a little obssessive and starting saving my own list of links.  LOL  I hope at some point to be able to whittle this down to just my favorite 100 rooms.  In the meantime, enjoy browsing the links.  I hope they inspire you!

Here are the "before" and some of the "after" pictures of my quilting studio.  I'll be adding the after pictures over the next few weeks as I finish up each area of my quilting studio.

Although, there may be a few that are the same, I've tried not to duplicate Carol's links.  Most of the women whose rooms are pictured are quilters although they may do other types of sewing.  I really enjoy the picture albums with *lots* of explanation of what I'm viewing in the picture.  I also like the "clean sweep" before and after photo albums.  Many women comment that their sewing rooms are where they spend most of their time.  (LOL  I *can't* imagine!)  These sewing rooms reflect some very creative use of space.  :o)

So, is it a sewing/quilting room or a sewing/quilting studio?  

I got the impression after viewing so many sewing/quilting rooms/studios that many feel as though a studio is a separate building or at least an area separated from the main living area of the house or a space dedicated to longarm quilters who charge for their services.  Some one said their's was a studio because it has a door.  :o)

Here's a couple definitions of studio from Google.

1. workplace for the teaching or practice of an art

2. space where an artist works

After viewing many beautiful quilts while browsing through photo albums, I think it's safe to say that quilting is an artform.  :o)  (I should mention that not everyone would agree with me that *all* quilting is *art.*)  It shouldn't matter whether it's a spare bedroom, a loft, a room addition, garage or basement reno, or a brand new building built just for your sewing/quilting--it's okay to call it a studio.  I think where I work on *my art* will be called a studio--for me, anyway, it's a studio--a quilting studio.  :o)
