I Want You To Take Your Place in This World
by Ted
Cottingham, MBA

I want you to know something and I want
you to know it deeply. I will come to you often with words from God, revelation,
encouragement, challenge, etc. but what I want you to do with it is to encourage
yourself with it, challenge yourself with it, and incorporate it into your
growth and learning continuum so that you will in fact, increase, advance, and
mature in the things of God and man.
We’re at a point where business controls just about everything. I’m writing
a paper now that contrasts secular and Christian writings with regard to
leadership. It seems to me that all of the Christian organizations and writers
are going to the business world to get what works. All the Christian writings
simply mirror what’s being put forth in the business world. The business world
is leading the church, not vice versa.
The church is not leading the business world today. The business world is not
coming to the church and church leaders and leading well-known Christian
businessmen and businesswomen to find out how to do business effectively.
They’re the ones doing it and we’re going to them.
What do we have to give them? Why do we say we have Christ and the abundant life
and the words of life and the Word of life and we give them so few answers?
Yes we have the words of life and the Word of life and we offer the hope of
salvation by way of the cross. We know we have the only means of reconciling man
to God being through the blood of Jesus Christ. Yes we have those answers.
But what about living out our lives everyday with Him at the helm? Why are we
operating as we do? Why are we all going to the business world to try to
structure the church and everything else we do? Do we not think that God has
these answers for us?
Who’s leading who? Where are the leaders in the church? If we have the Holy
Spirit in us why aren’t we the most creative people around? Why aren’t we
the ones writing the leadership books and promulgating leading edge models and
theories to build the organizations of today and tomorrow.
That’s one of the major reasons I’m writing and will write more everyday. I
want you to lead. I want you to write. I want you to go to God and birth forth
what He has for you, and what He’s already placed in you.
I want you to take your place in this world, not just in some church building.
I want you to take your place in this world, not just in your present company.
I want you to take your place in this world and get a vision of God using what
He has placed in your heart that you’ve had there for years, that you’re
afraid of telling anyone else for fear that they may laugh at you in your
present circumstances.
I want you to rise up and believe in the God that’s in you and that you’ve
embraced as the lord of your life and believe that He can use you to do what is
in your heart.
I want you to pay the price of reorganizing your schedule so that you take time
to spend at His feet so He can talk to you and love you and bless you and kiss
you and correct you and mature you so you can grow up and do what you’re
supposed to be doing to take your place in this world.
I’m tired of so much of the world turning its nose up at committed Christians,
those who put God first in their lives.
I want you to have more and I’m going to be doing more and more for YOU to see
that YOU can do what’s in your heart to do. If you’re seeking God and
seeking to be used by him, and you’re opening your heart up to him without
reserve, and you keep feeling, sensing and hearing him direct you, I want to
help you have the guts to do something about it.
Get up and go take your place in this world.
God has told me more than once to “tell them, tell them, tell them every day,
every way you can.” He’s told me repeatedly to “be bold, be radical” and
that’s what I’m doing and will do more and more so.
I’m for you. This is not about me. This is about Him and who He is what He’s
doing. This is about you and what you’re doing and what you’re going to do.
I want you to stand up, get up, rise up and begin moving out, doing something
right now, and I mean now, that you believe will take you closer to Him and what
He has for you. And I want you bow your knees and open your mouth to Him and let
Him lift you up and begin to know him more.
And then get up and start writing, start speaking, start loving people more and
opening doors for those around you. Start your own email newsletters, set up
your own web pages, start taking steps to get what’s inside of you out.
Don’t wait until you can achieve some other person’s definition of
excellence. Do the best you can with what you’ve got and do it. Do it. Do it
today.
I believe in you.
More later.
